Street Noise Dance Company
Mission
Statement; Our reason for starting this company: to expose Rhode Island youth to urban hip hop dance culture, and strengthen
their performance skills to become future entertainers.
Street
Noise is a dance company that started in Providence, Rhode
Island in the summer of 2004. Co-Founded by Jeremy “Suave” Richardson and Kevin “Pantha”
Kehyei, It became a company in fall of 2004 as a school project. Street Noise is a break dance and hip-hop cultural dance
group for all ages and races. The company contains 18 members from all over Rhode
Island and Mass. Street Noise has already performed at major fashion shows, opened up concerts for
Young Bloodz, T-Pain, Dip Set, G-Unit and RoccaFella, background danced for recording artist, b-boy dance battles, hip-hop
summits and other events like fundraisers for churches. Each member of the company manages different positions to help run
the business. Street Noise is the next generation of entertainers.
Being a dancer is a lot of hard work. It is a hustle becoming an entertainer. There are many dancers with different
styles of dancing all over the world. It’s not just attitude that makes a great dancer, it’s the whole package
that counts. Style, personality, rhythm, attitude, stamina and strength can make a dancer ready to take on any stage or performance.
Dancers have many ways to benefit from the skills and talent they have. Original dancers always catch the eyes of many before
the average dancer who studies the classic ballet. People or should I say media loves to see what is the newest dance style
being marketed in the industry. Some dancers benefit from teaching others how to dance by instructing them with the elements
of a certain dance style. I have thought men, woman, and children how to dance from the knowledge I have. Some of my best
learning experiences are from teaching others and explaining the history of the dance they are learning.
Culture is
a big part of the dance world. Dance has its place in almost every country around the world. The categories are big, from
salsa to jazz, hip-hop dance (Break Dancing, Clown dance or krunping), West African to River dance (tap dance). Similar dance
steps in another country might be called something else or said in a different language. Some dancers benefit from touring
with live musicals or stage performances. Such as Broadway musicals, like Stomp, Disney on Ice and other big named tours with
big money behind the tour. Being in music videos with choreographed moves help dancers make a lot of money for doing what
they love. Music makes the world go round, sometimes dancers use music they dance to describe the culture or style the dancer(s)
represent.
With my company I started in my Jr. Year of high school called Street Noise, I feel I have touched the hearts of most
the members. I helped them stay out of trouble in the streets and at home. I still keep in touch with most the parents of
the dancers in our company. As president & CEO of the company I let everyone know that we stand for being anti-substance
abuse prevention and delinquency prevention. We work with youth who live in group homes or foster homes, and some that just
came out of juvenile prison. I love to dance and for those who enjoy the same, I said why not make an outlet for people to
express them selves. Dance can change ones life for the better because it happened to me. Some day the people I helped get
into dance I hope can benefit from it like I did or the members of my company.
